This is the
Skill Practice Course Management System used by Oxford to manage the progress
of the English file book that they have. Honestly speaking, I am kind of
impressed by this CMS. The page itself it easy to access by just using username
and password. Yet, it does need guidance from a tutor to see the other
available tools, still when you do it becomes easy to navigate. The course
itself it is simple, this simplicity allows that any computer can run it with
no problems. It also has special material to be downloaded. Overall, when
teachers and students gain understanding on how it works it becomes easy to
use.
In regards
of the content, the site clearly has a language usage purpose for the students
to practice. Depending on the course (Elementary, pre-intermediate… etc.) The content matches the level of the students.
At the same time, it allows students to solve activities using the four English
skills, they can record for speaking and they can write paragraphs for writing.
Nevertheless, the interaction is mostly student and CMS there are no chances of
interaction teacher-student or student-student. As the CMS is supposed to be
used in conjunction with a book there are no objectives inside the page and
most of the context is outside the page.
This CMS
allows teachers to check what the students practice and how is their progress.
Still, you have to pay for the course to have access, granted it makes it more
exclusive but by the fact you buy it you expect more support from the creators,
if you have the chance to work with it, do it.
